The Function Of A Sandblasting Machine Nozzle

The nozzle is a critical component of a sandblasting machine; it regulates the volume of abrasive material ejected as well as the blasting force, thereby directly influencing the machine's overall efficiency.

Different models and types of sandblasting machines typically utilize different nozzle specifications. Among these, the "straight-bore" nozzle is the most widely used design. Characterized by a cylindrical shape with a circular opening at one end and a flared (bell-shaped) opening at the other, straight-bore nozzles typically feature an outer diameter of 20 mm, though they are available in a wide variety of lengths and internal bore sizes.

The length and internal bore diameter of a straight-bore nozzle determine the specific pattern of the abrasive stream. Generally, for nozzles with the same internal bore size, a shorter nozzle delivers a higher volume of abrasive material and covers a wider blasting area; conversely, in terms of blasting intensity, a longer nozzle generates a more powerful impact force than a shorter one. When comparing nozzles of the same length but different internal bore sizes, those with smaller bores tend to be more durable, though they deliver a relatively lower volume of abrasive material. From a cleaning perspective, longer nozzles are more effective than shorter ones at reaching and cleaning "dead spots"-hard-to-reach corners and crevices. Therefore, when selecting a sandblasting nozzle, users should base their choice primarily on the specific blasting requirements of their products.

Sandblasting nozzles are typically categorized by their material composition, including ceramic, tungsten carbide, silicon carbide, and boron carbide. Boron carbide is considered the most durable material; a nozzle made of pure boron carbide boasts a service life at least five times longer than that of a tungsten carbide nozzle. While pure boron carbide is relatively expensive, the market also offers "composite" boron carbide nozzles-manufactured by blending boron carbide with tungsten carbide or silicon carbide powders-which, while more affordable, offer a shorter service life compared to their pure counterparts. Consequently, users should prioritize purchasing from reputable and trustworthy suppliers. Gangfeng provides customers with nozzles made of 100% pure boron carbide, ensuring that users can make their purchases with complete confidence.
